Situated in the heart of Macquarie Park, Aristocrat Technologies undertook a fully occupied refurbishment of their full building, seven storey national headquarters. Aristocrat was guided by alkimi studio through a strategic briefing process in order to formulate a brief that would form the basis of the design.
In exploring the client’s desire for natural connection, we embedded into the design the study of biophilia. This ideology guided us in designing healthy and light filled spaces. The staircase formed the 'beating-heart' of this biophilic design, encouraging engagement of staff across generations and teams whilst providing communal spaces for staff to gather, congregate and re-fuel. These collision points were purposely engineered to achieve an elevated sense of collaboration whilst also encouraging movement.
Addressing the need for new ways of working, we introduced 'neighbourhoods' providing flexibility and agility to support specific team requirements of this multi-faceted global company and its many businesses and functionalities that are housed under this one roof.
This design also included a full upgrade to base building sanitary amenities, as well as a new internal café, wellness centre, showers, parents facilities, lobby upgrade and full graphic concept design.
The inspiration for the palette utilised throughout is an echo of the Aristocrat branding, where bold colours take on both a sophisticated and playful role as the spaces unfold from formal meeting rooms and tranquil wellness spaces to a lively café and congregation space.
